Arizona Facial Hair Removal For Women

Women who have unwanted facial hair generally self-treat through:

  • plucking, which lasts for a few days
  • waxing, which lasts from two to six weeks
  • depilatories, which lasts from several days to a few weeks

Laser hair removal treatments, in contrast, result in a permanent reduction in the amount of re-growth.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser technology has been used to rid patients of unwanted hair since the mid 1990s. The highly concentrated light beam is shone down on the the bottom layers of the skin where the follicles lie. The follicles absorb the powerful rays and become burned or singed. This injures them beyond repair, so that further growth is impossible. When the hair falls out, a bareness is left for two to four weeks. When re-growth in the surrounding areas begins to appear, the removal process is repeated until a permanent reduction of growth in the target area has been achieved. For facial areas such as the chin, eyebrows and upper lip, as many as six individual treatment sessions may be necessary to produce the preferred level of smoothness. A topical anesthetic cream may be applied to the target area prior to treatment to prevent any discomfort.
