Very few things are as embarrassing for a woman as
unwanted facial hair. Unfortunately many women today
suffer its appearance often times due to an underlying
medical issue. As women age often times hormones, get
out of synch and cause coarse dark hair on the chin,
lip, ears and other places. The causes can be as simple
as genetics or as serious as diabetes or insulin
resistance. However no matter the cause women simply
want the hair gone and permanently if possible.
Plucking
As the first errant black hair pokes its head out
tweezers are there to make their debut short and sweet.
Tweezers are a wonderful answer because they are cheap,
quick, easy and best of all since they pull the hair out
by the root it will be some time before they grow back.
This will work fine for the occasional hair but what
about the times you feel like the bearded lady. It would
take you hours on end to pluck every one and you more
than likely would sport red irritated skin for your
trouble.
Hair Removal Cream
There are several different chemicals on the market
today for hair removal. The problem is few of them are
for the face and the ones that are the most effective
are only available with a prescription. Beyond those two
issues are skin irritation due to allergic reaction, it
is hard to determine which is worse facial hair or the
red bumps left behind by some chemicals.
Shaving
Many women find themselves in the dreadful position of
shaving to remove facial hair. This is a fast way to get
relief and does not require hours in front of the mirror
or a prescription. The problem is this is only a quick
fix, not an actual answer. Shaving may leave stubble,
red skin or irritation and you could find yourself in
the position of repeating the process daily. Shaving can
help in a desperate situation but it is not the best
answer to unwanted facial hair in women.
Long Term Hair Removal
Before laser treatment became available in the early 90s
it was tested for nearly two decades. Quickly after
being released, the practice became popular among
clients and dermatologists alike. Studies and articles
have been written over the years and published in
various literature's, the first coming from
Massachusetts General Hospital.
Laser hair removal or selective photothermolysis, SPTL
is a long term to permanent solution for hair removal. A
strong light passes through skin causing no damage until
it reaches the darker melanin pigment of the hair. The
laser does temporary damage to the follicle to the point
where it takes many months or even years for the hair to
grow back.
|Many people think that laser hair treatment provides an
instant permanent hair removal. While laser hair
treatments will eventually provide hair free situation
it is not instant. You will need to have several
treatments over an extended period in order to become
totally hair free.
The areas that are the best candidates for laser hair
removal are the chin, ear lobe, upper lip and most other
facial areas. However, you will not be able to use laser
treatment for nose, inner ear hair and eyes. You could
also consider laser hair removal for the legs, armpits
and other bodily locations where you have dark unwanted
hair.
When compared to the other treatment methods available
laser hair removal is one of the best. Initial laser
treatments can leave you hair free for weeks, months and
even years. Repetitive treatments can eventually result
in complete and permanent removal of the unwanted hair.
